One of my favorite stones has always been Tourmaline. My trip to Tucson turned up some lovely yet affordable strands. Lucky me, I also found some 8mm tourmaline cabs, I chose the pinkish color which is referred to as rubilite.
The square cross type motif was made by 2 thick layers of sterling sweat soldered together and pounded to make it a slightly pillow looking pendant. I also hammered it lightly for some added interest.
The necklace part measures 20" and the pendant is a little over 1" square.
Earrings hang 1" from their hand made wires.
